We Stumbled Upon Jamie Lynn Noon’s music one day and decided we had to interview her the next. Her powerful delivery of emotion immediately draws you in. You want to know the rest of the story – the love story that came before the song.Â
Jamie just released her debut EP A Moment To Break, co-produced with film/television music veteran and producer Kevin Harris and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Brian Gardner (No Doubt/Christina Aguilera/Avril Lavigne). She is also releasing a separate single, “’Til Ya Make It,” produced by Grammy and Oscar-nominated producer/songwriter, Jud Friedman (Whitney Houston/James Ingram/Kenny Loggins) .
After listening to several tracks we had to know more about this talented artist, who has quickly gained the attention by many in the industry, and by a growing fan-base.
IRM: Jamie, It’s clear that you are communicating something personal in your songs. What would you say is the driving force behind songs like “To Finally” and “Second of a Spark”, for example?
JLN: “To Finally” and “Second of a Spark” both encompass what I feel is the universal emotion of living life in the moment and being completely happy and transfixed in that moment.
IRM: Looking back, what would you call the pivotal moment in your music career to date?
JLN: I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I released my debut EP, A Moment to Break, this past January.
IRM: What aspects of the internet have been most helpful to you as an artist? What have been the most frustrating?
JLN: The internet has been very helpful to me as an artist… MySpace has enabled me to reach fans and listeners from all over the world, and I’m absolutely grateful to those who have taken the time to listen to my music and who have and continue to support me. MTV’s Soundtrack is a relatively new music discovery site, where my fans have helped me to reach the top ten! Their support has been amazing and I am so thankful for their help and dedication.
IRM: When did you start songwriting and how did that come about for you?
JLN: I have always been involved in music in some way, and started to write my own songs when I was about sixteen. Songwriting has gone on to become my biggest passion and I love the creativity and inspiration that it brings.
IRM: So, you’ve just released a new CD, can you tell us a little about this project?
JLN: Yes! I released my debut EP, A Moment to Break, this past January. It is available on iTunes, Amazon, and all other digital download sites.
IRM: One of the lines in Second of a Spark goes, “In a whirlwind, I don’t want to calm down/It’s a surge of emotions controlling me now/And all I want is this moment to live with me now.” Is this typical of Jamie Lynn Noon or maybe a better way to ask is, Does this signify something you look forward to or look back on?
JLN: I think that it signifies capturing life at that given second, and never wanting to let that feeling go. It’s something I look back on and look forward to.
IRM: You’ve got $5 to spend on lunch – what are you eating? Who are you eating with? What are you talking about?
JLN: Can lunch be a cappuccino with mom, at a local Peet’s Coffee and Tea? Two of my favorite things in life– coffee, and my mom comes above all!
IRM: What are you doing musically in 2 years? What does the road to that place look like?
JLN: I will be continuing to write and will have had a few releases behind me. I hope to have had the chance to write for other artists as well, which is one of my biggest dreams and aspirations… I want nothing more than to continue to be able to dedicate my life to music, and share it with those who have listened with open ears and open hearts.
